Professor Fulghum joins Chemical and Nuclear Engineering in August as the 8th Department Chair. Since 1989 Fulghum has been a professor in the department of Chemistry at Kent State University. Her research interests include materials characterization with an emphasis on multi-technique correlation and multivariate analysis for non-destructive evaluation of heterogeneous samples; XPS, TOF-SIMS, AFM, FTIR. Her enthusiasm for science and research is contagious. While at Kent State, Professor Fulghum was instrumental in developing and promoting the course "Chemistry in our World" for freshman, non-science majors. Starting with 35 students her first semester the course now averages 80 - 150. Professor Fulghum received her PhD in Analytical Chemistry in 1987 from the University of North Carolina. |
